Summary

Amends the

Child Support (Assessment) Act 1989
and 7 other Acts in relation to: a new child support formula; independent review of child support decisions by the Social Security Appeals Tribunal; court enforcement of the new Child Support Scheme; family tax benefit Part A maintenance income test; child support agreements and court orders; income definitions used to calculate child support and family tax benefit; minimum payment rules; exclusion of re-establishment costs from child support calculations; suspension of child support payments during reconciliation; inclusion of step-children as dependants in calculating child support; and “change of assessment” processes and rules.
